Marks & Spencer, Bridgend
Marks & Spencer is excited to announce proposals for a brand new M&S Foodhall at Waterton Road, Bridgend.
The proposals form part of a new commercial development on an underused site to the south of Waterton Road, to be known as Porth Waterton. The M&S Foodhall will be part of a wider development, including an Aldi foodstore and Costa drive through, together with customer parking and landscaping.
There is currently no M&S Foodhall in Bridgend. The new store would bring the full M&S Food offer to the town for the first time, creating around 70 M&S jobs and providing a convenient new shopping destination for customers across Bridgend, Porthcawl, Cowbridge and the wider Vale.
A Fresh Opportunity for Bridgend
The proposals represent a significant new investment in Bridgend and an opportunity to transform an underused site into a modern and attractive commercial destination.
The site is currently occupied in part by Compact Cars and Vans, with other areas used for car auctions or comprising vacant and rough ground. Redeveloping the site will bring this land into more productive use, alongside new landscaping, green infrastructure and improved pedestrian and cycle connections.
The New M&S Foodhall in Bridgend
The proposed M&S Foodhall will provide a modern shopping experience, offering customers the very best of M&S Food in one convenient location.
The proposed store will offer:
Approximately 18,000 sq. ft. of net retail floorspace.
High quality fresh produce sourced from M&S Select Farm Partners.
Popular ranges including Plant Kitchen and Eat Well, alongside high quality fresh food, everyday favourites and seasonal products.
Around 70 new M&S jobs.
Instore click and collect – enabling customers to collect online purchases.
Convenient access for customers from Bridgend, Porthcawl, Cowbridge and the wider Vale.
Site Location
The site is located at Parc Afon Ewenni on the southern side of Waterton Road, Bridgend, approximately 2km east of Bridgend Town Centre.
It sits between the Waterton and Waterton Cross roundabouts, with Porth Waterton and the River Ewenni corridor to the east. The site is well placed for the A473 and wider road network and is also connected to existing and planned walking and cycling routes.
The application site is approximately 6.35 acres and is currently occupied in part by a used car dealership, alongside car auction land and areas of vacant or underused land.
